Avalanche Activity

The new snow and wind slabs must be evaluated with care and prudence.

As the wind picks up, the likelihood of small and medium sized avalanches being released will increase gradually. On steep slopes and in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain small and medium-sized avalanches are possible. The wind slabs can be released by a single winter sport participant in some cases. Avalanches can be triggered in the old snowpack and reach medium size.

Snowpack Structure

The wind slabs are bonding poorly with the old snowpack.
