Cariboos.
Snowfall amounts from the last storm vary significantly throughout the region. Expect the higher hazard to be found in deep snowpack areas around Valemont and Blue River.
Wednesday night: Freezing levels falling to 1300m. Continued strong South west winds are expected with 10 to 30mm of precipitation with the largest amounts in the mountains Southwest of Valemont.
Thursday: Freezing levels falling to valley bottom as clearer weather arrives over the range. some light flurries are expected with light to moderate West winds.
Friday: Temperature at 1500m -10. Clear weather with no new snow and light West winds in the alpine.
Saturday: Another clear cold day. Temperature at 1500m -11, moderate Northwest winds and no new snow.
A consistent storm pattern has given the snowpack little time to stabilize between snowfalls. We expect a large natural cycle took place on Wednesday morning. Observations in the range are limited this early in the season. If you are recreating in the Range please fill out a mountain information network report.
Reactive storm and wind slabs will be found in the treeline and alpine.
The mid and lower snowpack contains multiple crusts that seem to be holding strong.
Snowpack depths are currently around 100 cm below treeline, and shrink rapidly below 1600m. Alpine snowpacks are expected to be 160 to 250 with the deepest snowpacks found around Blue River and Valemont.
