Chic-Choc Mountains.
Choose areas where the snow has not been affected by the wind. You'll get better riding conditions, and you'll minimize your chances of being exposed to wind slabs.
No new avalanches reported or observed.
If you are out in the backcountry, please share your observations on the Mountain Information Network (MIN).
In the alpine and at treeline, snow conditions are highly variable. Generally speaking, there is very little snow on the northern and western slopes. On the eastern and southern slopes, conditions vary from wind-blown snow to light snow.
Below treeline and in areas sheltered from the wind, there is between 20 and 40 cm of powder, depending on the sector. The middle of the snowpack is fairly stable. Facets are present near the crusts at the base of the snowpack. At mid-mountain, snow depth varies between 90 and 140 cm.
