Over a wide area 20 to 50 cm of snow will fall on Wednesday above approximately 1800 m. As a consequence of new snow and a moderate to strong wind from westerly directions, soft wind slabs will form above the tree line. The fresh wind slabs can be released even by a single winter sport participant in particular on very steep north, east and south facing slopes. In particular at high altitudes and in high Alpine regions the avalanche prone locations are more prevalent. From starting zones at higher altitudes more small and medium-sized dry avalanches are possible. In their paths avalanches can entrain the wet snow. More wet avalanches are possible as the day progresses below approximately 2200 m.

20 to 40 cm of snow has fallen since Monday above approximately 2500 m. The rain gave rise to rapid and thorough wetting of the snowpack over a wide area below approximately 2400 m. And a rapid settlement of the snowpack below about 2500 m Towards its base, the snowpack is largely stable.

The danger of moist and wet avalanches will decrease quickly.
