Wind slab
- Above 1,700 m
The wind slabs represent the main danger. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
The wind slabs represent the main danger. In steep terrain there is a danger of falling on the hard snow surface.
The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain and adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas. Small and, in isolated cases, medium-sized natural avalanches are possible. The wind slabs can be released, especially by large additional loads,.
Below approximately 1500 m only a little snow is lying.
As a consequence of warming, the likelihood of moist loose snow avalanches being released will increase gradually in particular on sunny slopes.
