Snowpack Structure

Some snow fell on Thursday. This applies in particular in particular above approximately 1000 m. The new snow and wind slabs are lying on soft layers in particular on wind-protected shady slopes. Intermediate and high altitudes: Isolated avalanche prone weak layers exist in the bottom section of the snowpack in particular on very steep shady slopes.

Avalanche Activity

Individual avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular in steep terrain at intermediate and high altitudes.

The fresh and somewhat older wind slabs represent the main danger. The avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular adjacent to ridgelines and in pass areas and on steep, little used slopes. The avalanches are medium-sized and can mostly only be released by large loads. In very isolated cases avalanches can also be triggered in the old snowpack and reach large size. Maintaining distances between individuals and one-at-a-time descents are recommended.
