Stabile forhold. Enkelte steder høyt til fjells kan det være mulig å løse ut små skred i lommer der det har samlet seg fokksnø. Vær oppmerksom på utglidingsfare der snøoverflaten er hard og glatt.

Snowpack Structure

Fra 400 moh ligger det ca. 5 cm tørr nysnø over en hard såle etter mildvær tidligere i desember. Det er stedvis avblåst, og det er en del oppstikkende stein. På de aller høyeste toppene kan det finnes lommer med fokksnø.

Under skoggrensen er snødekket tynt, og snøoverflaten hard og isete.

Vesterålen ser generelt ut til å ha noe mer snø enn Lofoten.

Tendency

Locally unstable conditions. Snowfall and strong winds will form unstable windslabs in lee areas at higher elevations. Avoid slopes with fresh wind loading. Travel conditions may still be challenging in some places because of hard and icy snow surface.
