Avalanche Activity

Rapid increase in danger of moist and wet avalanches in the course of the day.

Already in the late morning more frequent small to medium-sized wet loose snow avalanches are to be expected. Caution is to be exercised in particular on extremely steep sunny slopes, and at the base of rock walls. In addition a latent danger of gliding avalanches exists. This applies on steep grassy slopes. The somewhat older wind slabs are now only very rarely prone to triggering. Such avalanche prone locations are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes at elevated altitudes. Caution is to be exercised in particular in gullies and bowls, and behind abrupt changes in the terrain. Backcountry tours should be concluded early.

Snowpack Structure

The surface of the snowpack will soften quickly. Sunshine and high temperatures will give rise as the day progresses to gradual and thorough wetting of the snowpack. The various wind slabs have bonded quite well already together.

Tendency

The avalanche danger will increase a little during the day.
