Avalanche danger is increasing as fresh snow drifts into stiffer slabs at higher elevations. Look for and avoid rounded pillows of drifted snow around terrain and vegetation breaks, and below ridgelines and cornice features.
Most avalanches in the modest amounts of new snow will be small, but small avalanches can be dangerous when combined with terrain traps such as a cliff, rocks, gullies, or dense trees below a steep slope. Sheltered terrain offers safer riding options.
