Avalanche danger
Highlights
At the mid and upper elevations, weak faceted snow persists at the base of the snowpack. In steep avalanche terrain the possibility of deep hard slab avalanches continues in limited but hard to predict areas. Triggering these dangerous slides may require larger loads such as snowmomobiles, groups of people, or one person hitting a particularly weak spot. Avalanches are unlikely at low elevations where mostly stable snow exists.
Avalanche Discussion
Areas of light to moderate snowfall are expected tonight and Friday. Winds with this system are expected to be light from the West. Highs on Friday are to be in the mid twenties. The general avalanche hazard is expected to be Moderate on Friday. In steep terrain, the possibility to trigger dangerous hard slab avalanches exists in limited but hard to predict areas. The triggering of the slabs will likely require larger loads such as snowmobiles or groups of riders or skiers however it could be caused by even one person who crosses a particularly weak spot on the slope could cause the failure.
