Avalanche Summary

You can trigger an avalanche on sheltered terrain steeper than about 35 degrees where you find new snow resting on old weak snow. As new snow accumulates avalanches will grow in size. These slides can be powerful enough to carry you into terrain hazards and bury you if you get flushed into a terrain trap such as a creek or gully. Avoiding slopes steeper than about 35 degrees will keep you safer.
