CM for 11/1/22 New snow instabilities later in the period around N through NE to E aspects above 900m. Moderate Hazard.

Forecast Snow Stability: Cooler, drier conditions will lead to improved stability. Later in the period where any new accumulations achieve depth, above 900 metres in steep gully heads and flanks, on mainly North through North-East to Easterly aspects, some new localised instabilities will exist. The avalanche hazard will be Moderate.

Snowpack Structure

Forecast Weather Influences: Fluctuating temperatures over the period with a cooler influence once again affecting the area; any rain will turn to snow as Freezing levels lower to around below 500 metres overnight, rising to just below summits as the day progresses. The winds will be strong West-South-Westerly throughout. Observed Weather Influences: Milder conditions have affected the area, with a rise in Freezing levels to above summits; at time of reporting rainfall quantities have not been significant. The winds have been strong South-South-Easterly. ObservedSnowStability: Some wet snow instabilities exist at highest elevations above 900 metres on North-West through North to North- Easterly aspects. At lower elevations the snowpack whilst now wet, has consolidated; here and on all windward slopes and ridges stability is generally good. The avalanche hazard is Moderate.
