Weather Forecast

Expect mostly clear skies today with warmer temperatures at higher elevations. The interior will be under the influence of a high pressure ridge until Wednesday when a weak system will bring light precipitation and rising freezing levels.

Snowpack Summary

Upper meter in snowpack continues to settle from recent storms. 30-40cm ski penetration. Mid pack is well-settled and the November 28 SH layer is buried down around 140cm.

Avalanche Summary

Yesterday, 1 natural size 3.0 glide crack release in the highway corridor west of the Rogers Pass summit.

Loose Dry

Temperatures are warmer up high today due to an inversion. Caution on and under steep solar aspects when the sun is shining on them. Loose avalanches will most likely originate from cliffs.

Wind Slabs

Wind slabs at ridge crests and in the alpine from the strong winds during the last storm may still catch a rider off guard.
Use ridges or ribs to avoid pockets of wind loaded snow.Be cautious as you transition into wind affected terrain.

Storm Slabs

Storm snow instabilities still exist in the recent storm snow. Although it appears to be bonding well, another day or two of settlement and observations is needed before it is no longer considered to be a problem.
The new snow will require several days to settle and stabilize.
