One skier observed loud whoompf and uphill cracking at a lower elevation than expected on the descent from Dungeon Point. Size of crack approx 10 ft out from skier, snowpack collapse minimal but evident. Area surrounded by sparse trees, barely convex. SE slope a mix of windswept (ie exposing the old sun (?) crust) and heavily crossloaded surfaces. Lots of snow transported by very strong winds, open slopes did not appear safe. Traveled very cautiously as planned.
