Quick report
Traveled to The Playground via Texas Meadows. Texas Meadows had 10 cms of new snow on a firm base. Dug 1 pit at our high point in The Playground, 8000 feet. Snow depth at pit location 110 cms. 15 cms of new snow with a thick ice crust at 40 cms. Faceted snow below the ice crust. Performed a shovel shear test with non planer failure occuring at ice crust layer. We saw the debri of one avalanche on the slopes to the west of Texas Meadows. Starting point appeared to be exposed rocks. Otherwise, we experienced no signs of instability and had fun skiing.
