Quick report

Collapsing
isolated

On a NE slope at 9700 feet we observed a layer of basal facet in our snowpits. Above this layer was a soft F slab from 20cm to 60cm. At 60cm we saw buried surface hoar 3cm thick with another soft F slab above. Our total snow depth was 77cm in this location. This soft slab was moderate to collapse but did propagate. The buried surface hoar was easy to collapse but did not propagate. We observed one incident of whomph under load - this was after the 4th skier. We traveled cautiously through avalanche terrain today; avoiding large slopes, terrain traps, wind loaded areas and not exceeding 35 degrees.
