My impression is the windward side of Schuylkill Ridge (SW facing) is the most dangerous right now. In that terrain, there are many places where cross-drifted slabs thin out and the snowpack is still collapsing underfoot. There was extensive natural activity last week on the leeward side of the ridge (NE facing), some late in the storm, some earlier in the storm and less obvious. In wind-protected terrain, the persistent slab problem appears to be stubborn now. Near valley bottom, HS was 130 to 140cm, and the January slab is 80 to 85 cm thick. I only got collapses where the slab was wind eroded down to ~50cm or less. SH on the shady side, cooked on the sunny side.
Rapid surface warming and frequent rollerballs on sunbaked slopes. I triggered one slope-scale rumbling collapse with a light ski stomp on a shallow spot near ridgeline. I also triggered a few smaller feature-wide collapses while poking around on the wind eroded side of the ridge, traveling where the slabs thinned out to about a foot thick.Weather
