Quick report

Cracking
specific

We observed 6-10" of soft, fresh in the trees and in wind-sheltered terrain. At higher elevations above treeline, significant wind scouring was evident, and the snowpack stucture transitioned to primarily wind slab over facets and depth hoar.

Two mid-snowpack melt-freeze crusts were present up to approxiamately 2,600' based on pole probing. Between 2,600' and 2,900', we identifed one mid-pack melt-freeze crust.

At higher elevations, wind loading produced reactive slabs. We observed multiple shooting cracks and were able to trigger small wind slabs. Due to active loading and clear signs instability, we chose to travel in low-angle terrain.

We were able to get shooting cracks on steep wind-loading terrain and pop off wind slabs on test slopes.
