We toured up Tincan starting at around 10:30 am. We experienced rain crust and slick conditions until about 2500’, between 2500’ and 2600’ the rain crust turned into a thin breakable crust. Above 2600’ the surface snow finally dried out. We found moderate pockets of slightly wind blown snow with whumps. Hand tests on steep test slopes around 2600’ easily collapsed in a solid 1’ heavy layer over buried crust. Hand tests on steep test slopes above 2700’ would not budge. We turned around at 3000’ due to decreasing visibility. Turns were great back down to 2500’. The rain crust we experienced on the way up turned into skiable wet snow.
