Quick report
Wet day out there for those that braved the storm riding. Rain line hovered around 7,000'. Very saturated snow (basically wet) was found up to 8,000 before the new snow fully transitioned to dry snow. Periods of heavy snowfall accumulated 6-8" of snow in the upper elevations, 3-5" in the middle elevations. Snow moved easily on the new to old snow interface on slopes over 35 degrees across N-E-S aspects in the form of loose snow problems. Wet loose below 8,000' and dry loose above. Wet snow moved easiest above the crust as new snow formed a firm cohesive slab. Weak faceted snow was found on sheltered northerly aspects below the new snow, but lacked a slab of new snow where we traveled. Wind transport was visible on ridglines. We found small pockets of reactive wind slabs failing on crusts. I wouldn't rule out the potential for larger wind slabs due to the poor new to old snow interface. More snow and larger slab depths would raise the avalanche danger. Snowfall slowed up around 15:00 as skies briefly cleared.
All avalaches were D1 encompassing only the new snow. Mainly dry and wet loose avalanches with small pockets of wind slabs less than 8" deep.
