Avalanche

Skied into Angell Basin today. Stayed below 8,000' due to wind and visibility. There was a lot of storm snow about 2-3'. There didn't seem to be obvious wind slabs, but the top 1' was reactive to ski cuts and would propagate and run as loose snow. Crowns were about a foot deep and about 5 to 10' wide. The failure seemed to be between different snow densities or crystal types. Breaking trail was difficult as track depth was a foot to foot and a half. Skiing was good on lower angle slopes.
