Quick report

With a SW wind and strong sunshine, it was noticeably warmer than yesterday. Snow on warm slopes was wet on the surface, but subtle aspect changes were enough for surfaces to transition to cold and faceted. We looked closely at the crust/facet combos and found several crusts with percolation tubes under them, but others that were smooth on the bottom. Some facets were relatively large at 1.5mm, with angles visible to the naked eye. Near and above treeline terrain was scoured down to firm snow and/or ice, so we stayed on near and below treeline terrain. The ~200ft of near and above treeline terrain we did move over was challenging without ski crampons. Winds shifted to NE in the afternoon, and during gusts we did see small amounts of loose snow moving along the surface.
