Weather & Surface Conditions: Clear weather with strong solar input through the day. Snow surface was soft but generally supportive during the ascent. Coverage was patchy at lower elevations, with several creek crossings requiring caution. Snowpack Observations: No obvious signs of instability (no cracking, collapsing, or recent avalanche activity observed). Initial snow surface was moist and supportable. By early afternoon (~1300), sun balls/pinwheels were observed around ~10,000 ft, indicating surface warming and minor loose wet activity potential. Snow Surface & Ski Quality: By late afternoon, snow transitioned to corn on northerly aspects receiving sun. Skiing quality was excellent. Variable coverage exists, with buried obstacles presenting hazards in thinner areas. Avalanche Concerns: Minor loose wet activity possible during peak solar warming (evidenced by sun balling). No significant slab instability noted during this tour. Travel Notes: Careful route-finding required at lower elevations due to patchy snow and open water crossings. Watch for shallowly buried obstacles throughout the descent.
