Quick report

The Clear Creek Trail is snow-free from the trailhead to the springs near 8,500 feet. Sections of snow remain on the route above the springs. An ice axe, crampons, a helmet, and the skills to use them well are still mandatory on the Clear Creek route to the summit. Careful navigation is essential on this route - taking a few steps in the wrong direction can land one on the Wintun Glacier or in Mud Creek Canyon.

Running water is available at the springs. Please respect this sensitive alpine environment - camp at least 200 feet from the spring head and creeks and avoid walking on the fragile plants along the creeks.

Several downed trees on the Clear Creek Trail below 8,000 feet must be navigated. Rangers will work to clear the trees in the coming weeks.

Please refer to the updated Climbing Advisory for more details about climbing Mount Shasta.
