Quick report
Toured from Tamarack TH up to the summit ridge of Red Cone. Skied the E face of Red Cone, then walked back up and north along Mammoth Crest to the N-facing bowl at the end of the Crest. Clear skies, calm, and warm. New snow started light and powdery this morning, but solar aspects around 10k were cooking by late morning, and the flats down lower were gloppy by early afternoon. Almost no wind affect to be found except in certain pockets on the very top of the Crest, especially in saddle-type formations. Probed at 10310' on the final ridge of Red Cone and found hs=175, soft facets felt like they were buried 125cm down from the surface. Kicked a few rollovers and couldn't get anything to move. We saw widespread pockets of surface hoar down low near the road and also along the Crest. Good skiing on shaded aspects but the tide still hasn't come in...
