Quick report

Cracking
isolated
Collapsing
widespread

Mostly just skiing the road today, I found an alarming stacked sandwich of unsupported crusts, and experienced several very large areas of whumpfing collapses. This was on largely level terrain at 9600ft, with no significant features involved. I dug some hand pits to check things out, and would guess that the snow level had moved above and below this elevation a few times through the recent storms. It's possible that these conditions are less pronounced at higher elevations, but worth considering as these new snow layers get further buried under the next incoming snowfalls. The old snow at the base of the snowpack remained loose and sugary, nearly unchanged from an observation in this same zone two weeks ago.
