Quick report
Consistent moderate easterly winds w clear redistributing of snow on entire late AM/early PM climb to and transition at top of Palmer. Otherwise bluebird. Less noticeable during descent to 5500’ and reclimb to 7K’. Quality skiing and skinning (softened but not sloppy). W gully wall avy and wind redistro, was cautious on steep Little AK descent but experienced no cracking or whumphing and pole probes were encouraging. Even so, cut descent short halfway down (300-400’) so as to ski traverse to safe spot on ridge and not transition or climb above cliff band/gully trap with ongoing pm warming on the westerly facing slope. Also chose to reascend ridge (easier/safer than expected) rather than lower 200 Turns overhead risk gully caldron. That said w increasing warming (incl overnight, wet slab risk?) in coming days, I would hesitate to ski steep lines (esp w terrain trap like today) until snowpack restabilizes w cooler temps, time etc. Also noticed cracking cornices in area of the avy on return.
