Above Leavitt Cirque

 We began our day with an exhausting ride up HYW 108, firm conditions did not allow our sleds to cool. Every couple hundred yards we had to stop and attempt to dip our sleds into the hard pack to cool them off.  Once we arrived at Leavitt Lake, we toured up to the Hoover Wilderness boundary on the east flank above the lake.  Skinning was fast and efficient due to the hard refreeze, Ski crampons were essentia tools forl today. We had minimal avalanche concerns today as the slopes we traveled on were wind-swept and locked up, a long sliding fall was our main concern. and South facing slopes also remained frozen and did not corn up by the time we left the field around 1430.  Thankfully, it was a beautiful day in the mountains because the snow quality for skiing and riding was severely lacking. 

We did see small pockets of wind-blown snow, but signs of wind slab were present in the alpine.
