Quick report

Cracking
isolated

Observed 6" of moist fresh snow on open W aspects as low as 3500'. This sat on top of a hard crust that was 5" thick at 4300'. Crust is easily supportive to boots. Did a tap test with no clear results, but the top layer is able to shear off the crust when applying gentle force. Some wind effect was observed in isolated spots forming a soft crust in the top 1-2". Easy to trigger roller balls especially later in the day.

Avalanche

I was able to trigger some small D0.5 ish slides on steep convexities where the top 1-2 inches of moist fresh snow slid off the drier snow underneath. W aspect around 4k. The layer only slid for ~10' vertically and entrained a minimal amount of snow
