Quick report

New surface snow totals varied from 6inches (15cm) below 1,500Ft to nearly 1.5Ft (45cm) above 2000Ft elevation. Boot penetration was 45cm, ski penetration was 35cm making for great surface conditions. Dug a pit at 2,300’ on NW aspect, 24 degree slope, Total height of snow (HS) was 264cm. We did not get any alarming results in our one pit. (ECTX, CT13 Progressive Compression (PC) within new snow 29cm below surface.) However, we felt like we dug in a heavily loaded area. There was lot of new snow (right side up) on top of older weak layers (upside down). We chose not to continue up to Eddie’s headwall and remained below the main West Face as it looked heavily loaded and we were still suspect of buried weak layers.
