Traveled the north half of the compass from 7400-10K, slope angles to 30°.
Snowpit tests showed a weakness about 9" down failing with medium effort but without much energy and with average shear quality. ECT's failed on the basal facets with hard effort. My tests and travels were reflecting a stabilizing snowpack although tests were somewhat inconclusive. Deep slab instabilities call for respect and self control, you can get away with a lot but find that trigger and you and the entire snowpack are going for a ride.
Forecasted cold temps will begin to weaken the snow surface and may also drive the temperature gradient within the pack steeper.
I would call the danger moderate with pockets of considerable with high consequences if you trigger an avalanche.
Snowpack
Surface faceting with more developed facets at lower elevations. Spotty and not as developed at higher elevations. Mostly supportable snow on skis and on the sled. Get off the skis or sled and you sink crotch deep.
