Schuylkill Ridge

We went to the epicenter of persistent slab activity this week to check in on the sensitivity of our March 13th layer.   Slabs were quiet underfoot, on ski cuts, and stability tests in wind-sheltered terrain below treeline.  Once we neared the wind loaded ridgeline near treeline, conditions changed significantly, with several large collapses and a remotely triggered persistent slab.  

We targeted several leeward slopes near the ridgeline and produced large collapses on all of them, one while stepping out of skis, and three while stomping with skis. These were on E and NE aspects NTL. One of these collapses remotely triggered a large persistent slab, and one remotely triggered a cornice. No signs of instability while breaking trail and skiing in wind-sheltered terrain below treeline.
