Our group stumbled upon a single burial avalanche event right as the slide was triggered by rider 1 on a NE, windloaded aspect @ ~8960' . The other 3 members of his group and the 5 members of our group responded and began a coordinated beacon search. The rider's hand was still visible on the surface with the rest of his body and head approx. 2'- 3" below the surface, 10-15' downhill of his sled. We were able to secure his airway within ~3 minutes of the event and extract him shortly after. His riding group were visiting from Michigan and sounded like they had recently purchased beacons and at least a couple had shovels. Unsure on # probes. Rider 1 traversed above a cliffy rock band and triggered the slab, ~3-5', that broke on the Feb 15 layer.
