Weather

Calm, Clear, and very windy.

Snowpack

The strong wind was changing things today. One would think hard slabs were built on many slopes. Digging on a northeast slope around 11,300 feet the most recent snow, was showing hard failures on the December drought layer. The mid-pack slab is building, but the facets from the December drought are still in the top meter of the snowpack. The boot pen is only 30-40 cm. Extended Column Tests produced hard propagating results in two tests on 31 and 32 taps. Incremental loading is slowly building this slab. No cracking or collapsing was observed today.

Avalanche

Two small avalanches were observed on the Mill Creek area on southerly slopes and a D 1.5 natural on a west below treeline slope. These were in 550 Paths and will be coded in the highway database.
