Quick report

Most aspects around Carson Pass held little to no snow. Steep, shaded, and previously wind loaded slopes held +/-25cm of moist snow. Where there was a thin melt freeze crust on the surface, there was also a very thin layer of small, dry facets. In areas where the melt freeze crust was back in its melt phase, I couldn't find these facets.

Shovel tilts produced easy and planar shears on 0.5mm facets just under the surface crust. This could only be replicated on steep, shady patches of old snow where there was also a surface crust.

Snowpack

25cm on steep and shady slopes. It was moist from top to bottom except a very thin layer of dry 0.5mm facets just under the surface crust. On most slopes the surface crust was back into its melt phase, and no facets were observed in these locations.
