Quick report

Skinned up Broadway from Bunny Flat to about 8200ft right near treeline. Descended on a S-SW slope under 30° Weather: Partially cloudy sky. Sun made an appearance over the mountain for a couple of hours in the early afternoon. Moderate W-NW winds along the Ridgeline. A small amount of blowing snow could be seen near treeline. Clouds rolled in and snow started coming down at a moderate rate around 1330. Snowpack: The westerly side of the ridge was wind scoured with wind effect visible on the snow surface. Southerly side of the ridge had a variable amount of light and soft new snow (2-6") atop a breakable crust. Rain runnels were present below treeline. Small cornices we're present over the southerly facing slopes near treeline. Overall, the small amount of light new snow made for some enjoyable turns.

Avalanche

Avalanche observed on S-SW slope above treeline. It ran from the rocky top of Casaval Ridge down toward Avalanche Gulch. Could not see a crown. Likely a wet loose slide from last night's rain on snow event.
