Quick report

Cracking
isolated

The snowpack structure is shallower and looks worse here than my recent field days at Purple Ridge and Southern Ruby's, but it still produced unreactive pit results below the Cupid Slab (See pit profile from a repeat offender slope).  The storm interface (3/3 layer) also looks a bit weaker, but lacked overlying slab development (so far), except for some small wind slabs starting to form at ridgetop.  We skied several steep slopes in wind-sheltered terrain N/BTL with no signs of instability.

A couple of shooting cracks and a slumping wind slab were isolated to just below ridgeline, about a foot thick.

As of 1 p.m., settled storm snow amounts (from March 3 to present) were 6" to 8" below treeline and 10" to 14" near treeline. Midday, we encountered moderate winds and S3 snowfall rates above 11,000' with light winds and light snowfall (S1) at low elevations.

Avalanche

Poor visibility of surrounding terrain, no avalanches observed other than some minor sluffing skiing steeper pitches.
