It was insanely warm, about 15-20 degrees warmer than town. Snow was melting and degrading on the surface in a big way. Dug a really quick and wildly unofficial pit, column failed on isolation. Absolute garbage facets from the ground to 45cm, hard crust at 60cm. 120cm total depth, 9374', SSW facing, 29degree slope. Heard a very loud, very deep thump after filling the pit. Skied out the ridge.
