Moderate to heavy snowfall was occurring (S1-S2) that was unevenly distributed due to moderate to strong North wind. New snowfall amounts ranged from nothing in wind scoured areas up to 4 inch drifts in cross loaded terrain and the lee side of terrain features. New snow was falling on knife hard wind affected snow surfaces or bare ground. These wind loaded areas showed signs of instability with small shooting cracks present. As wind and snow continue overnight, these instabilities will likely grow in depth, distribution, and consequence.

Snowpack
Snowpack consisted of knife hard old wind affected surfaces with a couple inches of new snow on top that was redistributed by moderate to strong north wind into shallow, sensitive wind slabs. A persistent weak layer at the new/old interface was not present or a concern in this location. However, a firm and in some places, low friction bed surface is in place.
