Snowpack ob from Mingha Surface conditions was a thin, breakable wind skin. This thin wind deposit sat over softer fist-hard snow. Below this was a 10 to 15 cm thick layer of pencil-hard rounds. And below this was a thin rain crust with a 2 to 3 cm thick layer of facets beneath. We got a crack to initiate and propagate in an extended column test (ECTP19). Below this the snowpack is mostly consolidated, boring, and homogenous. We only dug in one spot, so it's hard to know how continous this weak layer is, but two other parties in slightly different areas found the same structure. This layer could become reactive with a big loading event. I'd also be wary of places with this structure and recent effective wind loading.
