Quick report

We got out for a quick tour this afternoon to get an inventory of surface conditions and a look around before the next storm arrives. The only recent avalanche activity we saw was a chunk of a glide crack that had recently released below Tincan Proper. Surfaces were mainly dust on crust at elevations below 2500', with 4 to 8" softer snow above that. The softer snow on the surface has started to facet during the previous week of clear weather.

Snowpack

We were out for a quick inventory of surface conditions ahead of this next round of stormy weather. Here's what we saw:

  • Very thin coverage up to alder line.
  • Dust on crust up to around 2500'.
  • 4-8" soft snow at higher elevations.
  • We could not feel the holiday crust with pole probes above 2750'.
