Quick report

2-4cm of new snow from overnight. Light winds from the western 1/4. Air temp was cool, but snow surfaces were becoming moist in areas getting sun. Felt like a radiation recrystallization crust was forming on SE under the fairy dust. Sun/warming: Upper snowpack on solars were taking heat today, and crusts were out from yesterdays warm up. Not enough warming to think about wet loose. 2/13: It felt like the upper slab was consolidating from the sun, however, no signs point to the 2/13 interface being an issue. The idea of it is mostly just giving me the creeps. Could take the wrong dose of luck to find the perfect aspect/slope angle that made a FC/MFcr combo to trigger an avalanche on 2/13. 1/31: No formal tests. No obvious signs. Still calling it stubborn/widespread, but think it's trending to stubborn/specific. Specific to areas areas where slab has stiffened from wind or sun, wind causing a variable snowpack depth, rocky, >35*.

Snowpack

Toured around the front side of Galena Pass today. Did not preform any formal snowpack tests. I didn't experience any obvious signs of instabilities in my travels, and did not observe any recent avalanches. With the low number of recently observed avalanches, reduced cracking/collapsing and ECTP's, it feels like the likelihood of triggering is dropping, however, consequence has plateaued at catastrophic.
