Quick report

West aspect was largely wind scoured above 4200’ but an isolated pocket of recent windblown snow produced an avalanche triggered by the third skier in our party while cutting across the slope. Luckily he was able to avoid getting caught and carried.

Avalanche

West slope of Silver Peak, 4900’ D1.5 wind slab, ran ~700’ to bottom of the slide path. Crown line was ~60ft across and ranged from 6” deep on sides to 2.5’ in the center.
