Quick report

Skied the North Gully of Axis Peak. We encountered hot/wet snow on our way into Eight Mile Lake. The temperatures dropped as we approached Axis Peak due to shade and elevation. We saw evidence of two recent avalanches that had occurred, likely from last weekend's storm on the approach of the North Gully around 6000 feet. We also observed a small point release on the east facing slope adjacent to us around ~6000 feet. During our descent from the col, the first 1000 feet of skiing was surprisingly good, consolidated powder (7000-6000). From 6000 down to the lake the snow turned grippy to eventually hot/wet at the valley bottom.
