1245h, 8389 feet, NE aspect, overcast/ obscured sky, light snow, blowing snow, air temp: 21 degrees F, boot penetration was about 40 cm, height of snow in this location was 217cm. Again, I thought I would see evidence of slab formation, but there wasn't much. Little wind texture, isolated cracking that did not propagate. Moderate wind, strong wind gusts from the east. I didn't dig much, but I found the top 55cm of snow was fist hard over a 1 finger ice layer which was about 1 cm thick, over 4 finger/ 1 finger rounded grains down to 120 cm. I did not travel or ski aggressively. I found little evidence that new snow in this area has formed a cohesive slab.
