Quick report
Snow along the Tuckerman Ravine Trail from Hermit Lake to the ravine floor was variable, but consisted primarily of soft snow with minimal boot penetration. Just beyond Connection Cache, small pockets of deeper snow were found in sheltered areas, with boot penetration reaching up to 40 cm.
On the floor of Tuckerman Ravine, surfaces were firm and wind-affected. Snow that visually appeared soft was, in fact, quite firm. Crown lines from yesterday’s avalanches remained visible.
A strong northerly wind was actively transporting snow into the ravine, however, rather than loading a specific slope, snow was swirling and depositing into lower-elevation, wind-protected terrain. Ridgelines were scoured, and slopes appeared wind-affected from top to bottom in easterly terrain, with small, isolated pockets of smoother snow in more sheltered areas.
Observed the crown line from one of yesterday’s human-triggered avalanches in Center Headwall. Additionally, a small D1 avalanche was noted in terrain above skier’s left of Right Gully.Weather

Sunny skies, cold temperatures, and light winds around Hermit Lake. Once we reached Tuckerman Ravine, wind speeds increased and skies remained clear.
