Quick report

We saw 10 naturally occurring small to medium sized sloughing/potential cornice breaks from the top of the Breccia cliffs within a 10 minute window of observation, at 4:30pm. Some of them were large enough to run out on the slopes beneath for approximately 200 feet. Sloughing was occurring all along the cliff band, including above the eastern entrance to Sublette Pass.

Cold, between 0-10 degrees, and wind was fairly mild (5-10 mph with gusts up to 15 mph) in the valleys but looked much stronger on the high points and ridgelines. Intermittent blowing snow and cloud cover interspersed with blue skies.

Snowpack

The cornices along the eastern edge of the Breccia appear to have 20-30 feet of overhang and seem primed to fall, based on triggering an avalanche at the same location yesterday and observing so much sloughing in such a short window of time this afternoon.
