Quick report
About three feet of snow covers the meadow at Bunny Flat (6,900 feet). Less than a thousand feet higher, the Old Ski Bowl (7,600 feet) holds about double - over six feet - partially a result of high snow levels this winter. Steep, sunny slopes below treeline are melting quickly, with bare ground in places. Continuous snow coverage exists from the parking lot at Bunny Flat into Avalanche Gulch and up the Everitt Memorial Highway.
No signs of instability were observed. Thick, hard crusts in the upper snowpack limit wet loose concerns at this time, although the strength of these crusts may be tested as temperatures warm in the coming days. Steep, solar aspects below rocky terrain features would be the most likely places to find unstable wet snow. Snow surfaces on southerly aspects near and below treeline softened around midday, providing supportable corn skiing.
