2 shallow pits were dug on northern aspects around 3200ft to observe the recent storm slab. The slab has consolidated to a cohesive unit and a moderate amount of energy is stored in the facets below. The faceted layer collapsed at 7 hand taps with a shovel 6" and 8" down respectively. The slab displaced downslope approximately 15mm each time with the collapse. Further noted deep facets between 2 and 4 feet down. The depth of this layer is heavily dependent on snow load but large facets between 2 and 5mm noted. My team made the decision to stay on frozen isothermic snow on southern aspects and left the slope before much warming occured. Generally it appears the stability on the northern aspects is decreasing as facets continue to grow and the storm slab becomes progressively more cohesive. We exercised extremely cautious travel on northern aspects.
