Quick report

Cracking
specific

Toured up to summit of Tamarack. Saw cracking on wind affected north facing slopes while ascending. Most appeared to be about 3-4” thick wind slab. Saw more cracking at the top of hourglass, the slab seemed thicker there. Plus visibility was poor with the transporting snow from the wind. Bailed on that, and went over to Proletariat. Snow was less wind affected there, but still set off a small slide just below the high point. Crown broke just as I was skiing through the narrow steep point on a convex rollover. Saw it fracture around me and skied out. Luckily it was small. About 40-50’ across and 6” deep at the crown. Did not run very far as the slope eases off fairly quickly.

Small slab just below the high point on Proletariat. About 6in. deep and 50ft. wide. I triggered it as passing through the narrow steep point just below the summit. I was able to ski out and get clear.
